Description
Deflectors can be added to loading arm drop tubes to reduce the possibility of static buildup and product foaming. It is possible to reroute the upward pressure to prevent the arm from attempting to emerge from the tank during loading. The deflectors’ primary function is to direct the water in a specific direction around the cylinder walls. Unfortunately, the deflectors between the cylinders can swell sideways, either due to a severe overheating issue in the past or just aging and salt corrosion. Due to the restriction in water flow, the water often cools effectively at low RPMs but not at higher RPMs.
