Description
The Icom UX251 AIS Receiver Unit f/M605 is an internal plug-in module designed specifically to add dual-channel Automatic Identification System (AIS) tracking capabilities to the Icom IC-M605 VHF marine transceiver. While some global versions of the M605 come with this module pre-installed, standard base models require the UX251 to enable target decoding directly on the radio's color display.

Once the module is added, it unlocks a suite of tracking and collision avoidance features built into the radio's native software:
- On-Screen Tracking: View real-time vessel traffic, heading, and identity via the M605’s dedicated AIS plotter and target list screens.
- Direct DSC Calling: Allows you to select any target vessel directly from the AIS plotter screen and instantly initiate an individual Digital Selective Calling (DSC) radio call without manually typing in an MMSI number.
- Network Sharing: Feeds received target data out to your onboard chartplotter or multi-function display (MFD) using the radio's existing NMEA 2000 or NMEA 0183 high-speed connections.
- Collision Alarms: Automatically calculates the closest point of approach (CPA) and sounds an audible alarm if another vessel breaches safety parameters
