Sea Dog Marine

The Sea-Dog Line Folding Grapnel Anchor is a highly compact, lockable four-arm anchor designed primarily for small watercraft, inflatables, personal watercraft (PWCs), and as a light-duty backup anchor for larger boats. Constructed from hot-dipped galvanized iron with forged flukes, its key feature is that the four-arms fold flat against the main shank, preventing sharp flukes from puncturing sensitive fabrics or damaging storage compartments.

Key Specifications & Sizing Guide

The anchor comes in multiple weight configurations to match various boat lengths, requiring specific chain and line setups:

Features and Performance

  • Locking Collar: Features a retrieval/locking ring that slides down to lock the flukes securely in both the fully open and tightly collapsed storage positions.
  • Bottom Conditions: Excels at grabbing onto structures in heavy weeds, grass, gravel, and rocky beds.
  • Holding Limitation: Because of its small fluke surface area, it provides relatively poor holding power for long-term anchoring or heavy wind/currents. It functions best for quick daytime stops, kayaking fishing, or as a temporary drag weight.
  • Available Kits: Sea-Dog also packages these into complete ready-to-go systems like the Sea-Dog Economy Folding Anchor Kit which includes lines, floats, and storage mesh bags. They also offer an Anti-Snag kit that uses a zip-tie breakaway system for easy retrieval in rocky bottoms.
